Sometimes, somethings need to be restated over and over again to make a very important point. While this point may be obvious to some, it might not be so obvious to others and needs to be repeated. Today that point is that Western North Carolina is open for business! Yes, this area was hit by a terrible hurricane named Helene that caused a lot of problems and disruptions in the immediate aftermath of the storm. Western North Carolina, however, is not a group of people who take things like this and give up. We come together and fix, repair, build, re-build, support, and do whatever is necessary to come back stronger than before. That is what we do and, for the most part, is what we have done since Helene visited us on September 27th, 2024. This process started, as you would guess, with our first responders who helped, rescued and recovered those who were in immediate need of assistance. This effort continued with tens of thousands of others; relief workers, linemen, volunteers, construction workers, truckers, politicians (yes, even them), and recovery experts who were both local and brought in from the surrounding areas. The result of all of this effort is that Western North Carolina was opened back up fairly quickly and is currently open for business! We invite you to come be part of the comeback.
The Comeback…
As you would expect with something like this, the “comeback” or recovery was not a binary event. Western North Carolina is a large and very diverse area and different regions were affected differently by the storm. As I stated in a previous blog article, believe it or not, Van in Black was actually out providing wedding transportation services on September 28th which was the day after the storm. By the next weekend we were out providing wine tours along with everything else we do. It was more of a rolling come back which, at this point, has encompassed just about the entire area which includes big regions within Western North Carolina like Asheville, Hendersonville and Tryon. Many of these have been open for awhile but, as stated earlier, this needs to be restated again, that WNC is open for business.
